Parkinson's Disease (PD) Model

Animals exhibit PD-like behavioral phenotypes after MPTP induction.

NHP Models of Parkinson's Disease (PD)

Molecular Imaging: Confirmed dopaminergic neuronal damage in animal brains post-modeling.
High modeling success rate with controllable severity levels, persistent PD-like phenotypes.
Pharmacological Response: Rapid alleviation of PD behaviors upon L-Dopa administration.

Figure 1. Kurlan scores revealed a progressive aggravation of PD symptoms during MPTP injection in cynomolgus/rhesus monkey models, and the symptoms were sustained for one year after withdrawal of MPTP.

Figure 2. In the nine-hole food retrieval test, PD model monkeys showed a significantly increased latency to grasp food and a significantly reduced finger motor ability, which were rapidly restored by L-DOPA treatment.

Figure 3. MRI and PET imaging showed significantly reduced volumes of the putamen, striatum, and frontal gyrus in PD model monkeys, as well as a marked decrease in dopaminergic projections to the caudate nucleus, putamen, and striatum.
